Certificate pinning is when an application requires its internal (hardcoded) certificate matches with a server's TLS certificate. This is used by applications such as Outlook to prevent man-in-the-middle (MITM) attacks.
To monitor certificate pinned apps, Teramind uses different techniques. For example, currently it use the MAPI for monitoring Outlook Desktop. Other applications such as the ones using an Electron-based web engine (e.g., AirCall, RingCentral, 8x8, etc.) are monitored via JavaScript injection/proxy.
