Prerequisite

You will need to set up a NFS share on your local network if you have additional app node(s) (a server with the terasrv role) and you have screen recording enabled. Add access to files on your NAS within the local network.

To set up NFS share, consult appropriate documentation. There are also many online tutorials available that can help with this step. We are happy to assist if the the steps fail due to missing permissions/services on the NFS appliance that prevent the data from being synced or written to the new NFS share. You can check out this article for help. If you encounter such an issue or any issue with a S3-compatible storage engine on Teramind Appliances, please contact our support team.

After setting up the NFS storage, please follow the instructions below.

Step 1: Configure multi-node settings

Configure the multi-node settings on your Teramind Dashboard. Follow the instruction described in this section of the Teramind User Guide for help: Settings > Server Management

Step 2. Set up a slave server

In Teramind, a slave server is called terasrv or Application server node. The purpose of such a server is to process a larger number of Agent connections. As mentioned in the On-Premise Deployment Guide, we recommend adding an Application server node once a deployment reaches 1,000 concurrent users and add thereafter an extra node for each 1,000 additional concurrent users.

1. Setup your VM. For instructions, please consult one of these sections (depending on your setup) from the Teramind On-Premise Deployment guide:

2. Setup the VM's role so that it acts as a slave server. For instructions on how to setup the VM's role, check out the Setting the VM Role section on the Teramind On-Premise Deployment Guide. Please input terasrv instead of master when prompted for the server role.

Step 3. Setup a BI server (optional)

It's recommended that you use a dedicated BI server for 1,000 or more users. To setup a BI server, follow the same instructions on Step 2 but use terabi when prompted for the server role.

About Server Roles

The first primary server is assigned the role master. This server hosts the web-interface for the Teramind Dashboard. The DB is also attached to this master server. Subsequent application servers should be assigned the role terasrv. The terabi server processes the BI reports.
