Enhanced Location Tracking in BI Reports
This BI update introduces a precision-focused upgrade to office attribution by leveraging CIDR NETWORK RANGE-based configurations in your BI Reports. When you define the CIDR ranges under Configure > Locations, the system automatically processes these network details to ensure user activity is correctly attributed to the appropriate location across all analytics and reporting dashboards.
This automated mapping bridges your network infrastructure and physical locations with your business intelligence, ensuring seamless data consistency across the entire platform.
Feature Highlights
Improved Tracking Coverage: By adding CIDR as a fallback in the network-based detection hierarchy, BI can now map activity to an office even when high-precision identifiers like Wi-Fi BSSID or MAC addresses are missing.
Intelligent Location Hierarchy: CIDR-based detection is integrated into the system's priority chain to ensure the most accurate data is used first. The system evaluates location data in the following order*:
Wi-Fi SSID
MAC Address
CIDR Network Range
Coordinate-based Geolocation (Latitude/Longitude)
Dual-Stack Reliability: The implementation fully supports both IPv4 and IPv6 CIDR ranges, providing future-proof location tracking for modern network environments.
Stable and Scalable Management: Defining stable network subnets reduces the administrative burden of maintaining numerous MAC/BSSID mappings that can change with hardware replacements or network updates.
Zero-Maintenance Implementation: These enhancements are applied directly at the data processing layer. All existing BI dashboards, cubes, and filters utilizing the “office” dimensions will automatically benefit from more accurate attribution without requiring manual changes.
*Please note that Public IP addresses can be added in the Locations settings for administrative purposes only, and are not reflected in BI reports currently.
How to Use this Feature
Create or edit a Location from the Configure > Locations screen.
Add a CIDR NETWORK RANGE under an Access Point.
Once these locations are defined, you can add the Office or Office by Network dimension/column to a BI Report’s widget to see data automatically attributed to these locations.
