As the last step of the deployment process, you will need to assign the IAM role to your instance, setup the Teramind Server using the SSH and finally, configure your account settings on the Teramind Dashboard to make sure it’s working properly.
Confirming the Master Role and the Use of External Database
Go back to the SSH window you used at the end of Step 1.
At the Role (master) prompt, enter a name. For example: master
On the use external database? prompt, enter Yes.
Next, Teramind will ask for the connection details for the database. We will need to copy the connection strings from Azure first.
Accessing the Database Connection Strings Screen
To get the database connection details, do the following in sequence:
- Click the All resources menu on the left-sidebar of the Azure main interface.
- Click your database name from the list of resources. A panel with all the database properties will open.
- Click Connection strings under the Settings group.
Copying the Database Connection Strings
On the Connection strings panel, copy or write down the server/host portion (i.e. myteraminddb.postgres.database.azure.com
) from the first string.
Copy or write down the user id (i.e. username@myteraminddb
) portion too.
Specifying the Database Connection Details
Go back to the SSH window.
At the Database IP or hostname prompt, paste or type the database host name you just copied, and press Enter.
At the Database user name prompt, paste or type the database username you just copied, and press Enter.
At the Database password prompt, type the database password you used when you created the database and press Enter.
Confirming the Use of Azure Storage

Once the database setup is done, Teramind will ask if you want to use Azure storage.
At the Use Azure Storage for storing data (yes/no) prompt, type Yes and press Enter.
Next, you will need to get the Azure storage account name and the VM access key.

Accessing the VM Access Keys Screen
To get the storage account name and the access key, do the following in sequence:
- Click the All resources menu on the left-sidebar of the Auzure main interface.
- Click your database name from the list of resources. A panel with all the database properties will open.
- Click Connection strings under the Settings group.
Copying the Account Name and Access Key
On the Access keys panel, copy or write down the account name from the Storage account name field.
Also, copy or write down the key under key1.
Specifying the Storage Connection Details
Go back to the SSH window.
At the Enter account name for Azure Storage prompt, paste or type the storage account name you just copied, and press Enter.
At the Enter account key for Azure Storage prompt, paste or type the storage key you just copied, and press Enter.
Teramind will configure the storage and finalize the server installation.
Finishing the SSH Session
When the server setup is done, you will be presented with a https link. For example,https://52.168.179.122/
.
Click this link to continue or enter the link in a new browser window.
Accessing the Teramind Server
When open the Teramind Server link, you might see a warning message on your browser saying the connection is not private or secure. This is normal. The warning is shown because you haven’t assigned any SSL certificate to your server yet. You can upload your own certificate later from the Teramind dashboard.
If you are using Google Chrome, you can click the Advanced button on the warning page and then click the Proceed to link to continue. Other browsers have similar options to bypass the warning.
Setting the Language and Timezone
Once on the Teramind dashboard page, you will be greeted with a Welcome screen. You can select your default language and timezone from this screen.
Click CONTINUE to go to the next screen.
Setting Up Your Admin Account
You will now be able to enter your email and password to be used as your Administrator’s account. Enter the information and click CONTINUE to go to the next screen.
Getting Your License Key
Open a new browser tab and go to: https://www.teramind.co/portal. Login with the admin email and password.
Click the Licenses tab.
From the list of licenses, click the Key link under the Actions column. A pop-up will display the license key.
Copy the license key or write it down.
Entering the License Key
Go back to your Teramind Dashboard. Enter the license key in the YOUR LICENSE KEY field.
Click CONTINUE.
